Lobos Men's Basketball to Host Open Practice on Saturday, Oct. 27

Albuquerque, N.M. --- Head coach Steve Alford has always stated that the University of New Mexico has the best fans in the country. On Saturday, he is opening up practice for those very same fans.

The New Mexico basketball team will hold an open practice on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in The Pit, with an autograph session to take place afterwards. Fans are invited to come out to the practice and get an up-close and personal look at the 2012-13 squad. When the practice is over, the team will stick around to sign autographs for those in attendance.

The team will be introduced during the New Mexico-Fresno State football game later that day, which kickoff of at Branch Field at University Stadium at 1:30 p.m. It's the first open practice for the public since the Lobo Howl on October 12, and it will take place just four days before the opening exhibition game with Victory University on Wednesday night, October 31 at 7 p.m.

Fans can now make a Lobo day out of the Saturday, with men's basketball in the morning, football at 1:30 p.m., and then UNM volleyball on Saturday night against Fresno State at Johnson Center. With the football game, fans will have to pay to park, although cars with four or more game in free in certain paid lots.

Times for New Mexico's remaining home games have been set as well. The two exhibition games will tip-off on October 31 and November 5 at 7 p.m. UNM's game on Friday, Nov. 23 against Idaho will be at 8:30 p.m. Games on Nov. 25 (Portland), Nov. 28 (Mercer), Dec. 8 (Valparaiso), Feb. 6 (Air Force), and Feb. 16 (Boise State) will all start at 7 p.m., and games on Dec. 22 (South Dakota State), Jan. 12 (Fresno State), and March 2 (Wyoming) all are slated for 1 p.m. Two games, vs. Portland and Wyoming, may have the tip-times slightly adjusted for television purposes.
