No. 17/15 San Diego State Continues Homestand; Looks to Extend Several Win Streaks Against Big West Member UC Santa Barbara

San Diego State concludes a stretch of three games in six days on Thursday night when the Aztecs play host to UC Santa Barbara.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT and the contest will be broadcast by Time Warner Cable SportsNet. The non-conference tilt can also be heard on radio on AM 600 KOGO and 101 KGB.

The Aztecs are looking to extend several significant winning streaks, including a six-game overall win streak (13th-longest active win streak nationally), a 26-game win streak vs. teams from California (longest active win streak in the nation) and a 19-game December win streak (third-longest nationally).

On Monday, San Diego State scored the first nine points of the game, built an 18-point advantage and cruised to a 74-62 victory over Texas Southern at Viejas Arena. Junior guard Jamaal Franklin became the fifth player in Division I this season to produce a game with at least 18 points, 15 rebounds and four assists when he tallied exactly those figures. Senior guard Chase Tapley added 16 points and a season-high tying five assists. Senior forward DeShawn Stephens scored a season-high 13 points and added five rebounds, while Dwayne Polee II added a season-high 10 points.

Once again, the Aztecs had a tremendous defensive effort, especially in the first 20 minutes of the game. SDSU limited Texas Southern to 38.7 percent from the field and used a 39-29 advantage on the glass. As of Wednesday, the Aztecs ranked 21st nationally in field-goal percentage defense (36.4) and 24th in points allowed (56.7).
