Football to Hold Red & Black Game on Saturday

March 19, 2013

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team will hold its annual Red & Black game on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 1 p.m. PT on the SDSU Sports Deck. Admission for the spring game is free.

Prior to the Red & Black game, the sixth annual Aztec Football Legacy alumni flag football game will take place. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT, and will also be played on the Sports Deck.

The scrimmage signifies the end of the Aztecs' spring practice in preparation for the 2013 season. San Diego State is coming off one of its best seasons in program history, which concluded with a 9-4 record, a share of the Mountain West Conference championship and a Poinsettia Bowl appearance.

It was the Aztecs' first conference championship since 1998, and first time the program played in a bowl game three-consecutive years. In addition, Rocky Long was named MW Coach of the Year, while the Aztecs had 10 players named to the all-conference team.

SDSU begins the 2013 season on Aug. 31, at home against Eastern Illinois.
