Rebels Return To Gridiron

April 1, 2013

LAS VEGAS ( – The Rebels returned to Rebel Park on Monday afternoon after spending the last week on spring break.

With only five practices remaining, head coach Bobby Hauck was happy that many guys spent the week reenergizing themselves and getting ready for the final two weeks of spring football.

“Our guys looked fresh today,” Hauck said. “We were banged up, as we expected to be, going into spring break, so it was a great week off in terms of being productive and getting ourselves healed up and ready to go again as we only have five big practices left and need to make them count.”

With some starters recovering from injury this spring and unable to practice, it has given other players a chance to step in and get some experience. Hauck and the Rebels will concentrate on that as the spring season winds down.

“We just need to keep playing, keep getting better and keep developing our depth,” Hauck said. “We have to be able to play two to two and a half deep into our depth chart, which is not where UNLV has been for a long time, certainly not in our time here. The more work we can get for our guys and continue to develop our depth and have more guys ready to play at a division one level we will have a chance for a better season.”

The Rebels will practice on Wednesday afternoon and then hold their second scrimmage of the spring Friday morning, April 5. Next week the team will have two practices before the Spring Showcase.

The public is invited to attend the FREE family-friendly Spring Showcase on April 12 at Rebel Park that begins at 5:30 p.m. The third annual event is scheduled to include activities for kids, autograph and photo opportunities with staff and players as well as concessions stands offering food and drink for purchase.

All practices are open to the public but viewing areas are restricted and no use of mobile communication devices will be allowed while at Rebel Park. Please note that times are subject to change.
