Mountain West Announces 2013 Football Schedule

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West released the 2013 football schedule on Thursday for the new 12-member football lineup that consists of five intra-divisional games and three cross-divisional contests annually.

Fresno State is set to play six home games in 2012, three of which are in the first four weeks of the season.

"Our staff and players are fired up to see our full 2013 schedule," head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "It will be a great challenge to defend our MW championship and we know that the Red Wave will be excited to see these quality opponents coming to Bulldog Stadium. With 15 returning starters, including the MW Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, we are looking forward to an exciting fall."

The Bulldogs will open the Mountain West schedule at home on Friday, Sept. 20 with a home game against Boise State in a cross-divisional matchup. Fresno State then plays at Hawai'i on Saturday, Sept. 27 in its first intra-divisional game.

After closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule at Idaho on Oct. 5, the Bulldogs first bye week of the season lies on Oct. 12. Fresno State comes off the bye to host UNLV at home on Oct. 19 before hitting the road to face San Diego State on Oct. 26 in the Battle for the Old Oil Can trophy.

To open the month of November, the Bulldogs host Nevada on Saturday, Nov. 2 and play at Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The 'Dogs are idle on Saturday, Nov. 16 and host New Mexico in Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 23 in what will be senior day.

Fresno State concludes the regular season on Friday, Nov. 29 with a road game at San Jose State.

Previously scheduled non-conference games for the Bulldogs include the Aug. 29 season opener against Rutgers at home, a Sept. 7 home game against Cal Poly and a Sept. 14 game at Colorado.

The 2013 Mountain West schedule will play out over 15 weeks, concluding on Sat., Dec. 7 with the inaugural Mountain West Football Championship Game to be played at the home stadium of the divisional champion with the highest BCS ranking.

Telecast information and kick times are being finalized and will be announced later this spring.
