April 29, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The first game of the college football postseason will once again be the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, announced ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN. The annual bowl game will be played at University Stadium in Albuquerque on Saturday, Dec. 21, at noon MT/2 p.m. (ET) and televised nationally on ESPN and ESPN Radio. The eighth annual Gildan New Mexico Bowl is scheduled to feature teams from the Pac-12 and Mountain West Conference.

"This is a tremendous time slot for this event and our community," said Jeff Siembieda, Gildan New Mexico Bowl Executive Director. "It is becoming a bit of a tradition around here to kick off the bowl season on a Saturday afternoon in New Mexico. We look forward to once again setting the tone for a few great weeks of college football."

Last year's college football postseason began in Albuquerque for the fourth consecutive year. The Gildan New Mexico Bowl set a high standard with one of the best and most exciting games of the bowl season with the Pac-12's Arizona Wildcats and Nevada Wolf Pack representing the Mountain West. The Wildcats scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes to come from behind for a thrilling 49-48 victory in a game that saw many offensive bowl records fall.

Tickets for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl range from $25-$40 and are available at the UNM ticket office and at www.gildannewmexicobowl.com.
