LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV defensive back Daniel Harper represented the football team on the 2011-12 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete list, which was released by the league Wednesday.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
Harper boasted a grade point average of 3.57 while pursuing his master's degree in management information systems. After transferring to UNLV from USC last summer, Harper went on to play in all 12 games, starting 10, and finished second on the team with 61 total tackles to go with one interception and a forced fumble.
