SDSU Football's Leon McFadden Named to CFPA Watch List

July 6, 2012

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Leon McFadden has been named to the defensive back trophy watch list by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA). He joins 41 others who were also tabbed to the list.

The CFPA bases each annual honor on players' statistics and the level to which they help improve the overall success of their teams.

The Inglewood, Calif., native has already earned all-Mountain West first-team defensive honors from Phil Steele, Athlon Sports and Lindy's Sports. The senior was also tabbed as the preseason MW Defensive Player of the Year by Lindy's. In 2011, McFadden led the league in passes defended (17), while recording 46 tackles (35 solo), two interceptions and a sack.

The Aztecs begin their 2012 season with a contest against Washington at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 1 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
