New York, N.Y. – Colorado State center Weston Richburg is a candidate for the 2012 Rimington Trophy, the award’s committee announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 297-pound junior from Bushland, Texas, is among 51 players on the watch list and one of five from the Mountain West.

He earned his spot on the Rimington Trophy watch list after a successful sophomore campaign. Richburg was the anchor of the Rams offensive line starting all 12 games, including 10 at center. Not only did he help running back Chris Nwoke rush for 1,130 yards, the most by any Ram since 2008, but he also helped Nwoke become the first player in Rams history with multiple 200-yard rushing games in the same season.

A versatile lineman, Richburg started two games at tackle with a broken right hand, but finished the season back at center snapping with his left hand.

In May Richburg was named to the Rimington Trophy spring watch list and before that he was named to the 2011 Rimington Trophy watch list.
