No. 11: TCU Digs Deep For Victory
July 20, 2012
FORT WORTH, Texas - With the opening of the 2012 football season only a couple months away, GoFrogs.com once again takes a stroll down memory lane to review the No. 11 game in Amon G. Carter Stadium history.
The top 12 games all-time will be listed weekly throughout the rest of the summer, so fans are encouraged to check back often. Please note that selected game have been looked at significantly over the last couple of months and were chosen by members of the TCU athletics staff, with the help of alum Dan Jenkins.
Hobbled by injuries in the middle of what would have been an All-America campaign, Gillespie reached full recovery in time to provide all the offense needed on the ground and in the air for the Horned Frogs to take down SMU in the regular-season finale, 15-13. The victory clinched an Orange Bowl appearance.
"When Gillespie was healthy, he was the best we ever had," said head coach Dutch Meyer, who had seen all of TCU's top quarterbacks in the school's history.
