Former Lobo Baskett To Join Lobo Radio Network for 2 Games
Aug. 17, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico is pleased to announce that former Lobo and NFL wide receiver Hank Baskett will provide color commentary for the Lobo Radio Network broadcast during UNM's first two games of the 2012 football season.
Baskett will work alongside play-by-play announcer Scott Galetti, who is entering his fifth season as UNM's radio broadcaster. Greg Remington, former Lobo associate athletic director who has worked as the Lobo Radio Network's radio analyst the past two consecutive seasons, will again assume those duties for the final 11 games of the 2012 season.
Baskett's assignments will include the Sept. 1 season opener against Southern and the Sept. 8 road opener at Texas.
"I am very honored and excited that the University of New Mexico has reached out and asked me to commentate on a few of their games," Baskett said. "I will always be a Lobo, and to get the opportunity to go back home and work where it all started is amazing! I've always believed in giving back to New Mexico, and this is one heck of an opportunity to do just that."
Baskett, a first-team All-Mountain West selection for the Lobos in 2005, had a five-year NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings. He amassed 77 career receptions for 1,098 yards and six touchdowns.
The Clovis, N.M., native finished his 43-game UNM career (2002-05) with 25 starts, 140 receptions, 2,288 yards and 17 TDs. He had 121 receptions for 1,979 yards and 12 TDs his junior and senior seasons combined.
"I'm excited to have Hank as a part of our Lobo broadcast team," first-year UNM coach Bob Davie said. "He has a great background both as a former New Mexico player and as an NFL player. He understands Lobo football and has a great love and appreciation for the state of New Mexico. I think Hank will be outstanding in the booth."
The Lobo Sports Radio Network begins coverage of the 2012 season Monday with the Lobo Daily Show, a three-minute report of the current events that will air between 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. each weekday on the Lobo Radio Network affiliates. All aspects of the Lobo Sports Radio Network is managed and overseen by Lobo Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports and the multimedia rights holder for the University of New Mexico Athletics.
Inside Lobo Athletics with Paul Krebs, presented by Northwestern Mutual, will start Tuesday on 770-KKOB AM, and Lobo Talk with football head coach Bob Davie will take place Wednesday nights beginning Aug. 29.
