FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Jim McElwain, head football coach at Colorado State University, will throw out the first pitch Saturday, Aug. 18, before the Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins game at Coors Field in Denver.
The game begins at 6:10 p.m. (MT). The event will coincide with the CSU Alumni Association’s “Rams at the Rockies” night.
McElwain is in his first year as head coach of the Rams, who have completed 17 practices of fall camp in preparation for their season-opener vs. Colorado on Sept. 1 at Denver’s Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
McElwain came to CSU after serving four years as offensive coordinator at Alabama, where he won two national championships (2009, ’11) with the Crimson Tide. He was named the 20th head coach in CSU football history on Dec. 13, 2011.
