Camp Notes: Rebels Wrap Up In Ely

Aug. 22, 2012

ELY, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV football concluded its 10 day off campus stint in Ely on Wednesday following a scrimmage at Broadbent Park.

It was an early wake-up call for the Rebels as the scrimmage began at 8 a.m. The conditions were perfect as the Rebels were on the field for nearly two hours. The team started with special teams before moving into the team drills. Each quarterback saw some action during the scrimmage, but like the first scrimmage, the defense stole the spotlight as they held the offense at bay.

“It was a great camp up here in Ely,” head coach Bobby Hauck said. “It was tough camp, but we got a lot of work done. I think we are coming out of here a better football team.”

It was all work for the players while in Ely, but there were able to enjoy the football activities as well as bonding with their teammates.

“It was fun being up here being with the teammates,” Tim Cornett said. “It is 24/7 football up here and we got to build more team chemistry and that is good.”

After the scrimmage the Rebels packed a quick lunch before hitting the road back to Las Vegas. The team returned in the afternoon.

The preparation for Minnesota continues as the Rebels have an open practice tomorrow at 7 p.m.
