Oct. 2, 2012
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, the creator and sponsor of the Biletnikoff Award, announced Tuesday that Fresno State wide receiver Davante Adams has been added to its award watch list.
The Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to college football's outstanding receiver, added 11 players Tuesday to its watch list. The watch list is now comprised of 67 players, and Adams is one of three freshmen that are on the list of the nation's top receivers.
Through five games, Adams leads the Mountain West in catches (36), receiving yards (437) and is tied for the league lead in touchdowns (three). He is averaging 87.4 yards per game, a figure that also leads the conference, and has posted two 100-yard games.
Nationally, Adams' 437 receiving yards ranks No. 22 and his 7.2 receptions per game has him ranked 16th in the FBS.
The redshirt freshman from Palo Alto opened up his season with a seven-catch, 118-yard performance with two touchdowns in a win over Weber State. Adams became the first freshman in school history to have over 100-yards receiving in his very first career game.
He added 12 catches for 92 yards in week two at No. 4 Oregon, and last weekend against San Diego State, Adams caught eight passes for 102 yards.
The TQC Foundation, Inc. will announce its 10 semifinalists on Nov. 12 and its three finalists for the award on Nov. 19.
The winner of the 2012 Biletnikoff Award will be announced on Dec. 6 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
