Hall of Fame, Ram Legends events Saturday

Oct. 25, 2012

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--Ram fans will be treated to plenty of action on the field when Colorado State faces Hawaii in Saturday's annual "Orange Out" game.

Coach Jim McElwain's team will wear orange jerseys for the game as a tribute to the school's former colors - pumpkin orange and alfalfa green - for Saturday's 5 p.m. Mountain West game with the Warriors.

And when there isn't playing action on the field, fans will see a variety of tributes to the rich history of CSU athletics.

Former CSU track All-American and Olympic bronze medalist Janay DeLoach-Soukup will be on the field as an honorary captain for the pregame coin toss.  She will be recognized on the field during a break in first quarter action.  DeLoach-Soukup will begin the day as part of "Ram Walk," the football team's arrival at the stadium and parade walk to the locker room.  She will then be in Ram Town for a meet-and-greet with fans, from 4-4:30 p.m.

This is also "Ram Legends" weekend where all former football players, coaches, and staff are invited back.   They will gather for a pregame tailgate event, and be honored during the game.
Six individuals who will be inducted into the school's sports hall of fame Friday night will be recognized at halftime.  Those six comprise the latest class of inductees into the hall of fame.

Katie Frank, daughter of William Nye - the namesake of The Nye Trophy, which is awarded annually to the Most Outstanding Male Student-Athlete, will be on hand during Saturday's football game between the Rams and Hawaii. Frank will present memorabilia to be displayed in the CSU Athletics Hall of Fame Room.

More than 160 high school and middle marching band members will perform at halftime with CSU's marching band in celebration of "Band Day."  Those participating include marching bands from three high schools and one middle school.

First Bank, a mainstay corporate partner of CSU athletics, will be distributing white and orange towels to 5,000 fans Saturday as part of the Orange Out promotion.
