Senior Raymer Named Academic All-District 7

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico senior Matt Raymer has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Football Team, the College Sports Directors of America announced Thursday.

Raymer, a 5-foot-8, 188-pound strong safety from Manzano High School, is UNM’s leading tackler with an average of 7.1 stops per game, good for 13th place in the Mountain West. He has three forced fumbles this season to lead the team, and his five tackles for loss ranks third.

Raymer earned a College Football Performance Awards honorable mention for his performance against UNLV on Saturday. Raymer had a team-high nine tackles, forced two fumbles and recorded his first career interception.

The civil engineering major has a 3.49 grade point average.

Raymer and the Lobos will look for their second Mountain West victory of the season Saturday when they play host to Wyoming on Branch Field at University Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
