FRESNO, Calif. --The Fresno State men's golf team completed round three of The Prestige at PGA West and finished in 10th place.

"This is a positive step because we beat four teams that were ranked ahead of us, plus the European champion team from Scotland," head coach Mike Watney said.

The three-day tournament was held in La Quinta, Calif. and included three, 18-hole rounds on the par-72, 7,156-yard Greg Norman course.

In round three, the 'Dogs shot seven over par. The Bulldogs finished the tournament 30-over par (291-300-291--882).

The `Dogs were led by Rufie Fessler who swung into the top 20 and completed round three even par. Fessler (67-78-71---216) finished in a tie for 17th place.

"A top 20 finish in this field is excellent for Rufie," Watney said.

Johnny Partridge (77-72-74--223) finished in a tie for 45th place.

"This is definitely the best performance from our fifth man Johnny Partridge," Watney said.

The Bulldogs are looking forward to hosting their next tournament, Fresno State Lexus Classic at Belmont Country Club on March 4-5.
