Rebels 10th After Two Rounds In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team shot an opening-round 1-under -par 287 and a second-round 1-over 289 on Saturday at the Don Puckette National Invitational Tournament, which is being played at Omni Tucson National Golf Club (par 72, 7,219 yards).

Oklahoma State holds the team lead by one shot after two rounds at 17-under 559. TCU is second at 16-under, followed by New Mexico at 11-under in third, San Diego State at 10-under in fourth and Arkansas rounds out the top five at 7-under. The Rebels' 36-hole total of even-par 576 puts them in 10th place.

TCU's Julien Brun is the individual leader at 11-under 133 after rounds of 4-under 68 and 7-under 65. Oklahoma State's Ian Davis is second at 8-under.

UNLV was led by senior Kevin Penner who is tied for 19th at 1-under after rounds of 71 and 72. Freshman AJ McInerney is tied for 23rd at even-par after a 75 and 69, while sophomores Carl Jonson and Kurt Kitayama are both tied for 38th at 2-over, and junior Blake Biddle is tied for 51st at 4-over.

The tournament features 16 teams and 92 individuals, and will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. Live scoring is being provided by Golfstat with a link at UNLVRebels.com.
