TUCSON, Ariz.-- The Fresno State men's golf team recorded 10 strokes less in round two of the Mountain West Championship than in round one to move from eighth place to a tie for sixth place out of nine teams.

The Bulldogs fired seven-over par, 291 on the day and made 12 birdies. On the tournament, the Bulldogs sit 24-over par with 592 (301-291).

Jack Mulroy continued to lead the 'Dogs in round two and was the only Bulldog to fire under par. Mulroy carded one-under, 70 to move him five spots up in the top-20. He finished round two in a tie for 13th place at two-over, 144 (74-70).

"Jack had a tremendous round today," head coach Mike Watney said.

Behind Mulroy sits Johnny Partridge and Rufie Fessler. Partridge and Fessler recorded two-over par on the day to move into a tie for 24th place. The duo sits seven-over, 149 (76-73) on the tournament.

"It was good to move up a couple of spots, but we have a lot of ground to make up to get that NCAA spot. We will need five rounds like Jack had today," Watney said.

The Bulldogs continue action on the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina course at OMNI Tucson National on Sunday, May 5th with tee times set for 7 a.m. PT. In round three, the 'Dogs will be paired with Air Force and Colorado State. Follow the 'Dogs on www.golfstat.com and check www.gobulldogs.com for the recap.
