No. 13 Rebels In Second Place At Season Opener
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 13 UNLV men's golf team is in second place, five shots off the lead, at 4-under 572 after the first day of play at the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, which is being played at the Eisenhower Golf Club's Blue Course (par 72, 7,370 yards). The Rebels turned in scores of even-par 288 and 4-under 284 on Sunday.
Colorado leads the field at 9-under 567 (281-286). Air Force is third at 1-under, Coastal Carolina is fourth at 1-over, while Colorado-Colorado Springs rounds out the top five at 6-over.
Colorado's Jason Burstyn (68-71) and Air Force's Kyle Westmoreland (71-68) are both tied for the individual lead at 5-under 139. UNLV junior Blake Biddle is just one shot back at 4-under after two rounds of 2-under 70. UNLV freshman AJ McInerney (71-71) is also in the top 10, in a tie for eighth place, at 2-under 142.
Other Rebels: sophomore Kurt Kitayama (71-72) is tied for 14th at 1-under 143, junior Nicholas Maruri (76-71) is tied for 31st at 3-over 147 and freshman Zane Thomas (72-80) is tied for 57th at 8-over 152.
