FRESNO, Calif.--The Fresno State men's golf team will host the 50th annual Fresno State Lexus Classic on March 4-5.

"So many people help me to put on a great event," head coach Mike Watney said. "It would not be special without the help of a lot of people."

The 'Dogs will face their third tournament of the spring season as they compete against 16 teams, including No. 1 ranked Cal on their home course.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at Belmont Country Club in Fresno, Calif. with tee times set for 7:30 a.m. both Monday and Tuesday.

The Bulldogs lineup includes Rufie Fessler, Nate Jessup, Troix Tonkham, Johnny Partridge, and Jack Mulroy. Rich Gilkey will play as an individual.

It will be a tournament to remember as the Fresno State Lexus Classic celebrates 50 years and head coach Mike Watney celebrates his 35th and final year with the Bulldogs. Following the 2013 season, Watney will retire.

"I look forward to helping future golf classics but I'm kind of happy that I not be running the whole show," Watney said. "I will breathe a big sigh of relief on Tuesday night."
