Fresno State's Tonkham and New Mexico's Erkenbeck Named Mountain West Men's Co-Golfers of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State freshman Troix Tonkham and New Mexico senior James Erkenbeck have been selected Mountain West Men's Co-Golfers of the Week for tournaments played March 5-10.
Tonkham captured his first tournament crown as a collegiate golfer at the Bandon Dunes Championships in Bandon, Oregon on March 8-10. In a field of 94 golfers, Tonkham fired a 54-hole total of 6-under-par 210 (70-71-69) on the par 72, 6,859-yard course to win the event by three strokes over teammate Rufie Fessler.
Through 24 rounds this season, Tonkham ranks 13th in the Mountain West with a 72.79 stroke average.
In a field of 81 golfers at the Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas, Nev., Erkenbeck tied for first with a 4-under 212 (69-72-71) on the par 72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands course. His 69 in the first round was one stroke off his 18-hole low and was one of only eight scores under 70 in the tournament. Erkenbeck helped New Mexico to a top-five finish in a tournament in which all 15 teams ranked in the Top 50 and eight teams ranked in the Top 10 in the Golfweek.com/Sagarin poll at the time of the event. It was the Lobos' sixth top-5 finish in eight events this year.
Erkenbeck currently leads the Mountain West with a 72.79 stroke average over 24 rounds.
