Edens named MWC Golfer of the Week

FORT COLLINS, Colo.- For the first time in the junior’s collegiate career, Parker Edens has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 18-24.

Since the new format has been put in place, Edens is the first Ram to win the honor, and the first Ram golfer to be recognized this season.

Edens was chosen for his fantastic play at the Desert Shootout, which took place in Goodyear, Ariz. on March 21-23.  Edens was among the top of the pack for the three days, where he managed to shoot a 67 (-4) on the first day, pacing him for the rest of the tournament.  A second round 68 (-3) and a final round 75 (+4) saw him finish with a three-round score of 210 (-3).

So far, his tie in third place is his best finish of the 2012-2013 season.  Edens was one of four players to shoot two sub-70 rounds, as well as being one of 10 players among the 96 in the field to finish under par.

Edens is now currently ranked second in the Mountain West in stroke average with a 72.04 in 27 rounds of play.
