Men's golf preview: Rams tee-off at 10th Annual Wyo Cowboy Classic

The Colorado State men's golf team is headed to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the 10th annual Cowboy Classic hosted by Wyoming Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Talking Stick Golf Club's North Course. Two 18-hole rounds will be played on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Each day will begin at 8:30 a.m. MT.
The 23-team field will be made up of Wyoming, Colorado State, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Boise State, Nevada, Wichita State, Colorado, UC Davis, Kansas State, Air Force, Northern Colorado, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, Old Dominion, Cal State Northridge, Gonzaga, San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Weber State, Utah State, Kansas and Arizona.
Talking Stick Golf Club's North Course is par 70 stretching 7,133 yards. The Course was in Golf Magazine's "Top 100 You Can Play" and ranked No. 1 in the state by Golfweek.
Zahkai Brown, Kirby Pettitt, Mike Sorenson, Michael Wuertz and Cameron Harrell will be swinging for Head Coach Jamie Bermel in Scottsdale this week. The Rams placed third in last season's outing including a second place finish by Brown and a 23rd place finish by Pettitt. Sorenson also has experience from last season's tourney. The Rams are looking to Improve from the 14th place finish at the Thunderbird Invite Saturday. Live scoring will available on GolfStat.com.
