FRESNO, Calif.-- The Fresno State men's golf team will tee off its first of three stroke play tournaments to end the season when the Bulldogs compete in the 67th Western Intercollegiate hosted by San Jose State.

The Bulldogs travel to Santa Cruz, Calif. where they will face a 14-team field and compete at the 6,615-yard, par-70 Pasatiempo Golf Club.

This will be the Bulldogs' first stroke play tournament since the Bandon Dunes Championship on March 8-10.

In the Bandon Dunes Championship, the 'Dogs were determined to keep their name on the leaderboard and come home with a medal.

The Bulldogs fired three-over par to take the second place team title and Bulldog leaders Troix Tonkham and Rufie Fessler took the individual first and second place titles, respectively, out of the 95-player tournament.

Along with their performance at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, the Bandon Dunes Championship was the Bulldogs' second consecutive second place finish.

As the Bulldogs face four top-10 ranked teams including Cal, Washington, UCLA and Stanford, the 'Dogs are prepared for a challenging battle in which they seek to bring home a Western Intercollegiate team title.

The Bulldog lineup includes Rufie Fessler, Troix Tonkham, Nate Jessup, Jack Mulroy, Johnny Partridge and Rich Gilkey.

Following the Western Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs will compete at the Winchester Invitational in Meadow Vista, Calif. on April 19-21 and the MW Championship in Tuscon, Ariz. on May 3-5.
