Men's golf preview: CSU tees off in Tucson at MW Championship

The Colorado State men’s golf team is headed to Tucson, Ariz., for the 2012 Mountain
West Men’s Golf Championship Friday-Sunday. The 54-hole tournament will be played
at the OMNI Tucson National Resort. Each day will consist of one 18-hole round beginning
at 8 a.m. MT. No. 5 seed Colorado State will be paired with No. 6 seed Boise State
for Round 1.

The field
All eight Mountain West teams will compete in the three-day championship, three of
which are ranked in the top 20 nationally. Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, No. 16
New Mexico, No. 14 San Diego State, TCU, No. 8 UNLV and Wyoming will all take a
shot at the conference title Friday.

The course
For the sixth consecutive year, the MW Championship will be played on the Catalina
Course of the Tuscon National Resort. The par-71 course stretches 7,144 yards. The
Catalina Course was selected as one of Golf Digest’s “75 Best Golf Resorts in North
America”.

Rams Lineup
Senior Zahkai Brown, Junior Kirby Pettitt, Senior Michael Wuertz, Freshman Cameron
Harrell and Sophomore Parker Edens will be swinging for Head Coach Jamie Bermel
in Tucson this week. The Rams are coming off of a second place finish at the Cougar
Classic where Brown took the individual title. Brown and Pettitt have experience on the
Catalina Course and look to lead the team. Live hole-by-hole scoring will be available
