Lobo Men's Golf: Ohio, Here We Come

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico men's golf team will be the top seed in the NCAA Regional in Columbus, Ohio, the NCAA announced Monday night.

The Lobos, who won the Mountain West Championship over the weekend, is ranked fifth in both the latest Golfweek.com and Golfstat.com polls. They are one of six teams who earned No. 1 seeds among the six NCAA regionals that will take place May 16-18.

The other No. 1 seeds are California, Alabama, UCLA, Texas and Washington.

The NCAA announced the 81 teams that play in six regional tournaments. Three tournaments will consist of 14 teams; three will have 13. UNM's field has 13 teams. The teams in the field in Columbus are (in order of seeding):

UNM played in an NCAA Regional in Athens, Ga., in 2012 and missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships by one stroke. The Lobos are looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2007.
