Men's golf preview: Rams tee off Thursday at NCAA regional tourney

The Colorado State men’s golf team returns to the NCAA regionals for the sixth consecutive season and the 12th time in the last 13 seasons overall. Colorado State was selected as the No. 11 seed in the 14-team regional hosted by Western Kentucky at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. CT each day, with 18 holes scheduled Thursday-Saturday. Teams and individuals are re-paired according to score prior to the second and third rounds.
The regional, one of six arcound the coutnry, features 14 teams and five individuals vying for a spot in the NCAA Championship Tournament. Colorado State is seeded 11th in the region. Also competing in Bowling Green, Ky., are: No. 1-seeded UCLA, Arkansas (2), Texas A&M (3), Clemson (4), North Texas (5), Chattanooga (6), Memphis (7), Virgina Tech (8), Northwestern (9), Iowa State (10), Jacksonville State (12), Pennsylvania (13) and Alabama State (14). The five individuals are: Jace Long (Missouri), Justin Dorward (Louisville), Derek Fribbs (Colorado), Emilio Cuartero (Missouri) and Anthony Bradley (Austin Peay).
The five low teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.
The regional will be played at The Club at Olde Stone, a Par-72 course spanning 7,248 yards. The site was also host to a regional tournament in 2009.
The Rams are coming off of a fifth-place finish at the Mountain West Championship where Brown and Pettitt earned ties for second and fifth, respectively.
