2013 Division I PING All-America Teams Named

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2013 PING All-American men's golf teams were announced on Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), and three Mountain West student-athletes were among those honored.

New Mexico senior James Erkenbeck was one of 11 golfers to earn a first-team selection. The 2013 MW Golfer of the Year, Erkenbeck won the NCAA Regional individual competition from May 16-18 in Columbus, Ohio with a three-day total of 210 (3-under par), and led the Lobos to the match-play quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship. He finished in the top 20 in 11 of 14 tournaments and had eight top-10 results.

Sophomore Gavin Green, also from New Mexico, was a third-team honoree, while UNLV senior Kevin Penner received honorable mention recognition. Penner won the 2013 MW Championship individual title by one stroke over Erkenbeck, and Green finished three shots back in third place.
