Men's Golf Preview: Rams begin season in Colorado Springs

The Rams, with new coach Christian Newton in hand, head to Colorado Springs to start the golf season with the 44th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. After a solid 2011-2012 campaign, the Rams will look to start the season off on the right track. The Rams finished with a team score of 289 (+1) in last year’s Miranda Invitational, good enough for a 3rd place finish. Th e 54-hole tournament is slated to begin with two rounds on Sunday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start, while the final round will begin Monday at 8:15 a.m.
The 44th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational will be held at the Eisenhower Golf Club--Blue Course. The 7,363-yard, par-72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and was named the eighth-best college course in the nation by Golf Digest in 2005.
The sixteen team field is comprised of: Air Force, Air Force JV, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, UCCS, UNLV, Utah, Utah State, UTEP, Weber State and Wyoming.
The starting lineup for CSU is rounded out with Kory Harrell, Parker Edens, Kirby Pettit, Cameron Harrell and Dominic Kieffer, with Jordan Wetsch competing as an individual. Pettit has the best returning score from last year’s tournament after shooting a 215 (-1), while Cameron Harrell was 1 over with a 217 and Edens finished with a 223 (+7).
