No. 13 Rebels To Play In Preview
Sept. 21, 2012
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 13 UNLV men's golf team will be back in action starting Sunday, Sept. 23, as it competes at the PING/Golfweek Preview Invitational. It will be held at the Capital City Club Crabapple (par 70, 7,246 yards) in Alpharetta, Ga., which is also the site for the 2013 NCAA Men's Division I Championship.
The Preview, a 54-hole stroke-play tournament hosted by Georgia Tech, will take place over three days with 18 holes each on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The Rebels are coming off a second-place tie at the Gene Miranda Invitational, which was their season-opening tournament earlier this month in Colorado. Biddle and Kitayama both recorded top-10 finishes at that event.
Fourteen of the 15 teams at this year's Preview were listed among Golfweek's preseason top 25 in the nation, including Alabama (No. 1), Arkansas (7), California (2), Chattanooga (24), Florida State (16), Georgia (17), Kent State (13), New Mexico (18), San Diego State, Texas (3), Texas A&M (9), UCLA (5), UNLV (15) and Washington (6).
Tee times begin at 9 a.m. ET Sunday and Monday, and 8 a.m. ET for Tuesday's final round. Live scoring will be available courtesy of Golfstat with a link found on the schedule page at UNLVRebels.com.
The Preview was not held in 2011 because of scheduling conflicts at Riviera Country Club. From its inception in 1989, the Preview has brought together 15 prospective contenders for the NCAA title each fall at the site of the following spring's NCAA Division I Men's Championship.
This year's NCAA Championship will be held at Crabapple May 28-June 2, 2013.
