Mountain West Announces Men's Golfer of the Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior Tom Berry has been selected Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Month for September. This is his first career golfer of the month award.

In his first tournament of the fall, Berry tied for sixth place at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational in Bremerton, Wash., on Sept. 17-18. He carded a 1-over-par 217 (71-72-74) on the par 72, 7,124-yard Golf Mountain Course and led San Diego State to a fifth-place team finish.

At the Ping-Golfweek Preview on Sept. 23-25 at the Captial City-Crabapple Club in Alpharetta, Ga., the site of the 2013 NCAA Men's Golf National Championship, Berry led the tournament from start to finish and was the lone golfer to finish under par. Additionally, on the second day of the competition, he was the only player in the field of 75 without a bogey. In a field that included 12 of the top 20, and seven of the top 10, teams in country, the New Haw, England, native captured the individual crown with a 2-under 208 (67-69-72) on the par 70, 7,248-yard course. As a team, the Aztecs finished tied for ninth among the field of 15 teams.
