No. 11 Rebels Back In Action Monday-Tuesday

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 11 UNLV men's golf team will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 15, and Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, which will be played at Old Overton Country Club (par 71, 6,936 yards) in Vestavia Hills, Ala.

The 12-team field includes host Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Samford, South Alabama, UAB, UNLV and West Florida.

The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will consist of 36 holes (first and second rounds) on Monday and 18 holes (final round) on Tuesday.

Competing for UNLV will be junior Blake Biddle, sophomore Carl Jonson, sophomore Kurt Kitayama, freshman AJ McInerney and senior Kevin Penner.

Alabama won the JPNI for four straight years from 2006-2009, before Auburn won the tournament in 2010 and Texas claimed the team title last year by 20 shots with a 4-under 836. Clemson's Corbin Mills earned medalist honors at last year's event by two shots with a 9-under 201. UNLV finished sixth at last year's JPNI at 29-over and was led by Derek Ernst's third-place finish at 4-under. Ernst was a senior last year for the Rebels. Jonson was UNLV's next-best finisher as he tied for 21st at 9-over.
