UNM's Catlin Tied for 7th at All-America Golf Classic

In El Paso, Texas, University of New Mexico senior golfer John Catlin is tied for seventh place after Monday’s first 36 holes of the Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic.

Catlin shot a 5-under 137 (69-68) at the El Paso Country Club and trails co-leaders Kevin Penner (65-66=131) of UNLV and Cory Whitsett (66-65=131) of Alabama by six strokes in the event, which features 23 of the nation’s top players in a head-to-head format.

The Lobo senior is tied with five others at 5 under, including Georgia Tech’s Anders Albertson, Arkansas’ Sebastian Cappelen, California’s Brandon Hagy and Chattanooga’s Steven Fox.

The tournament, now in its 38th year, concludes today with the final 18 holes Tuesday starting at 7 a.m. Mountain Time.
