LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- In their first-ever Mountain West matchup the Fresno State men's tennis team pushed No. 66 San Diego State to the brink before being edged by the Aztecs 4-2.

The match started with singles play due to possible inclement weather in the area and did not play doubles after the match had been clinched.

The Aztecs were the first to get on the scoreboard with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Junior Sam MacNeil tied up the score with a 6-0, 6-4 over Spencer Simon on court six.

SDSU would then extend their lead to 3-1 with wins at No. 5 and No. 2. Santiago, Chile native, Nikolas Papic kept the Bulldogs in the match with a three-set upset victory on court four over #T-123 Andranik Khachatryan, dominating the last two sets for a final score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Derek Siddiqui sealed the victory for San Diego State with a come from behind three-set win at the top spot over Reid deLaubenfels 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8).

The 'Dogs return to action on Sunday when they host SEC opponent Auburn at noon at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
