Lobos 4-5 Overall After Loss to Oregon

EUGENE, ORE. – The Lobos had a rough weekend away from home as they fell to 4-5 overall this season. The Lobos fell in a tough match against the host school Oregon with a score of 5-2. The Lobos will travel to Tucson, Arizona to face Arizona at home on February 16, 2013.
At the number one doubles spot, Conor Berg and Andrew Van Der Vyver were paired up to face Jeff Mullen and Robin Cambier. It was a close match up but Oregon got the better of them as they won the match 8-5 against the Lobos.
At the number three position, Jadon Phillips and Simon Hegelund competed against the duo of Daan Maasland and Alex Rovello. The Lobos took four games away but it was not enough to win as the Ducks took the match 8-4.
With doubles coming to a close, it was time to move onto singles and see if the Lobos could change things up.
At the number one spot, Samir Iftikhar took a three set battle to Cambier. Cambier fought back after the first set loss to win the match 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
At number two singles, Berg battled against Mullen to fall in two close sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
At the number three position, Mitch McDaniels fell to Maasland with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
At number four singles, Phillips battled it out against Rovello. Phillips lost the first set 6-4 but that was not enough to stop the senior as he fought his way back into the match to force a three set decision. Phillips won the match with a final score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
At the number five spot, Du Toit made winning look easy as he took down Brent Chin with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
At the number six position, Hignett fell in a close first set tiebreak to Sardu with a score of 7-6 (2). Sardu kept his momentum going for him as he defeated Hignett with a final score of 7-6, 6-3.
The Lobos are now 4-5 overall as they head into their match against Arizona at Tucson, Arizona on February 16, 2013.
