Men's Tennis Earns 4-3 MW Victory At Air Force

SAN DIEGO - The No. 55 San Diego State men's tennis team opened Mountain West play with a 4-3 victory against Air Force on Sunday afternoon at the Lifetime Fitness Center. With the win, SDSU improved to 11-4 and 1-0 in league play, while the Falcons dropped to 8-9 and 0-1 in MW this season.

The Aztecs picked up the doubles point after earning victories at number one and three. Javier Pulgar and Hunter Nicholas defeated Lance Wilhelm and Grant Taylor, 9-8, after getting the 7-5 win in the tiebreaker. Rickey Baylon and Spencer Simon then picked up an 8-6 win against Alex Lineberry and Stephen Katrein.

In singles play, SDSU tallied three victories to clinch its first win in Mountain West play this season. At number four, Hunter Nicholas was victorious over Andy Jackson by the score of 6-3, 6-4. Thorsten Bertsch (No. 3) and Rickey Baylon (No. 6), meanwhile, each pulled out three-set wins against Alex Lineberry and Stephen Katrein, respectively.

SDSU will now stay in Colorado Springs, Colo., for a matchup with Denver University. The non-conference tilt is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday at Gates Tennis Center.
