Netters Still Perfect At Home In 2013

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 71st-ranked UNLV men's tennis team completed a doubleheader shutout with a 7-0 win over Idaho State on Monday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Rebels won the same score of Southern Utah earlier in the day.

UNLV improved to 11-4 overall, including 10-0 at home, while the Bengals fell to 7-3.

The Rebels took all three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. Ace Matias and Bernard Schoeman downed Christian Marian and Nate Gross 8-6 at the top spot; Johannes Markel and Tamas Batyi downed Krzysztof Stempien and Andres Coello 8-1 at No. 2; and Gilad Berman and Carlos Di Laura defeated Jamey Swiggart and Christian Marian 8-4 on court three.

The hosts did not lose a set in singles all day, including against ISU. Matias improved to 18-6 on the year with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Marian at the top of the lineup. Also winning were Batyi at No. 2, Berman at No. 3, Alvarado at No. 4, Markel at No. 5 and Di Laura on court six.

Next up, the Rebels will open Mountain West play by hosting Nevada, Reno on Thursday beginning with doubles play at 11 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
