Horned Frogs Take Down UNLV Friday, 6-1

LAS VEGAS – The TCU men’s tennis team opened up the Mountain West schedule with a 6-1 victory against UNLV Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Horned Frogs began the day by sweeping the Rebels on all three courts in doubles play. Brothers Paul and Nick Chappell teamed up earn an 8-5 decision from the top court, while the freshmen duo of Will Stein and Blake Wiggins worked together for an 8-6 win at the middle position. Senior Daniel Sanchez and newcomer Facundo Lugones completed the sweep with an 8-6 victory on the No. 3 court.

After earning the early 1-0 advantage in the team score by taking the doubles tally, TCU continued to play way individually in singles. Nick Chappell cruised to a 6-1, 7-6 straight set win from the top court, while Lugones continued his strong season with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot. Sanchez also collected a straight-set decision from the third court, while Paul Chappell and Blake Wiggins needed three sets to nailed down their wins.

TCU (6-11) will remain on the road, traveling to take on San Diego State Sunday.
