Last Match for #59 New Mexico:

The Lobos had a tough weekend as they lost to Penn State, Alabama, and Wake Forest in a span of two days. Senior Conor Berg won two out of his three singles matches to have an dual match record of 2-1 at number three singles. In his latest match, he defeated #90 Danny Kreyman with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). The Lobos are now 1-3 overall. From the doubles match against Alabama, the duo of Conor Berg and Jadon Phillips paired up to win a tiebreak match against Jarryd Both and Becker O’Shaughnessey with a score of 8-7 (4) at number one doubles. At the number two spot, Riaan Du Toit and James Hignett clinched the doubles point win as they defeated Daniil Proskura and David Vieyra also with the same score of 8-7 (4).

 

Western New Mexico, Colorado State-Pueblo, Northern Arizona:

Western New Mexico will start their season against the Lobos on Saturday. The Mustangs added two more players to their roster to start the season with nine total players. Junior Rodrigo Almeida was named the RMAC Preseason Player of the Year. Juan Pablo Fuentes was selected to the Preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Team. Colorado State-Pueblo will also start their season against the Lobos on Satuday. The Thunderwolves are picked to finish fifth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  Northern Arizona is 1-3 starting the season. Their recent loss to UNLV with a score of 5-2 put them in the same situation as New Mexico at 1-3 overall. Leading the Lumberjacks in singles is Dominic Bermudez with a dual match record of 2-2. At doubles, the duo of Shaun Waters and Robert Martin are leading the team with a dual match record of 3-1.

 

Next Up: The Lobos will travel to Eugene, Ore. to face Arkansas and Oregon on February 9-10, 2013.
