March 7, 2013

SAN DIEGO - The No. 36 San Diego State Men's Tennis team looks to continue its winning ways this weekend, as the Aztecs travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., to face UC Santa Barbara on Saturday and take on Utah on Sunday. The match against UCSB will begin at 4 p.m. PT.

SDSU (9-4, 2-0 MW) is coming off a victory over Central Florida, 4-3, on Tuesday at Aztec Tennis Center. Sophomore Thorsten Bertsch went 2-0 overall on the day and was named Mountain West Player of the Week on March 6 for the second-straight week. It's the third-consecutive week an Aztec has won the award, and the fourth time overall this season.

UCSB is 3-4 this season and has lost three of its last four matches, including a defeat at Princeton, 6-1, on Sunday. Last season the Aztecs came away with a narrow victory over the Gauchos, 4-3, at Aztec Tennis Center.

Utah has a 7-3 record, but has lost two straight and three of its last four. The Utes lost at Boise State on Saturday, 6-1, and are led by the No. 98-ranked singles player Slim Hamza.
