Men's Tennis Plays Host to No. 61 New Mexico

SAN DIEGO - The No. 42 San Diego State Men's Tennis team plays host to No. 61 New Mexico on Sunday, April 14, beginning at 11 a.m. PT. It will be the final home match of the season for the Aztecs.

SDSU (16-7, 4-0 MW) is coming off a home victory over Air Force, 6-1, on Friday, as the Aztecs swept doubles play and won five out of six singles matches. It was SDSU's third-straight dual match victory.

Senior Derek Siddiqui will play his final home match as an Aztec on Sunday, and is 12-10 overall this dual season. The Long Beach, Calif. native defeated No. 86 Lance Wilhelm of Air Force, 7-6 (2), 6-1, on Friday for his third singles win against a ranked opponent this dual season.

Sophomore Thorsten Bertsch is 15-4 overall this dual season, and has won eight of his last nine singles matches. The Mannheim, Germany native is on a two-match winning streak in the No. 1 singles slot, and is 3-2 this dual season against nationally-ranked opponents.

Hunter Nicholas improved to 14-7 in dual-match play on Friday against Air Force, and earned his first win in No. 2 singles this dual season. The junior from Park City, Utah has won three-straight singles matches overall, and six of his last nine.

New Mexico is 11-11 this dual season and 2-2 in Mountain West Conference play. The Lobos are coming off a road victory at Nevada, 4-3, on Friday, and have won two-straight MW matches.
