FORT WORTH – TCU’s men’s tennis closes its regular season Saturday when No. 67 New Mexico visits the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. matchup.

The Horned Frogs are 8-13 on the year, including a 2-2 mark in the Mountain West, and are winners of two-straight matches. The Lobos are 16-7 and 2-2 in the league. Saturday’s winner will earn the No. 3 seed in the Mountain West Tennis Championship.

In the all-time series with New Mexico, TCU holds an 18-3 advantage. The Frogs won both meetings last season, a 5-2 decision in the regular season and a 4-2 triumph in the Mountain West Championship semifinals.

Freshmen Nick Chappell and Facundo Lugones have led the Frogs this season in singles play. Chappell holds a 12-6 mark in the spring with all of his matches coming at the No. 1 position. Lugones has a 10-8 ledger since joining the Frogs prior to the start of the semester.

In doubles play, Daniel Sanchez and Max Stevens are 9-4 this spring, while Chappell and Will Stein are 3-2 and Lugones and JT Sundling have a 2-0 mark. The Lobos feature the nation’s No. 56 doubles squad in Phillip Anderson and Jadon Phillips.

Between singles and doubles action, TCU will honor its two seniors playing in their final home match. Sanchez and Paul Chappell are the two players departing the Frogs after this season.

Fans will also have the opportunity to enjoy appetizers from Silver Fox, tacos from Salsa Limon, as well as free pizza. Additionally, local artist Andrew Sullivan will perform a free concert.
