Mountain West Announces 2013 Women's Tennis Championship Bracket

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Mountain West regular season champion and 41st-ranked San Diego State (20-4 overall) enters the 2013 Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship as the top seed after posting a perfect 8-0 mark in Conference play this season.

The MW Championship will be held April 25-28 at the United States Air Force Academy Tennis Center. First round action begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, with the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. MT on Friday, April 26. The semifinals are Saturday, April 27 with a 10 a.m. MT start, and the championship on Sunday, April 28 gets underway at 10 a.m. MT.

UNLV, ranked No. 61, earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of its 16-7 overall record, 6-2 in Conference play. Fresno State, which lost a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Rebels for the No. 2 seed, will be the No. 3 seed. The Bulldogs finished the regular season 14-7, 6-2 in Conference.

Nevada defeated Boise State on the final day of the regular season to claim the No. 4 position. The Wolf Pack (11-6, 5-3) will play the No. 5 Broncos (13-9, 4-4) in one of the four quarterfinal matches on April 26. The match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.

Wyoming (10-11, 4-4) is the No. 6 seed, due to Boise State holding a head-to-head tiebreak with the Cowgirls. UW takes on No. 3 Fresno State, while No. 7 Air Force (13-10, 2-6) squares off with No. 2 UNLV in the quarterfinals. Both matches have a 2 p.m. start time.

In the opening round match on April 25, No. 8 New Mexico (7-14, 1-7) will take on No. 9 Colorado State (3-15, 0-8) at 10 a.m. The winner of that match will play the top-seeded Aztecs, who are currently riding a 14-match win streak. That quarterfinal tilt begins at 10 a.m. on April 26.

The winner of that match faces the Nevada/Boise State winner in the first semifinal, while Fresno State/Wyoming and UNLV/Air Force meet in the other semifinal.
