Silver State Rematch On Tap At MW Tourney

LAS VEGAS ( - The 64th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team is seeded third and opens play at the Mountain West Championships on Thursday vs. sixth-seeded Nevada, Reno at 1 p.m. PT.

All matches are scheduled to be played at the Air Force Academy Tennis Courts in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The surging Rebels, 16-6 overall and 4-2 in the MW, are looking to win their first league tournament title since 2007. UNLV defeated the Wolf Pack (9-11 and 1-5) 5-2 during the regular season on March 28. If the Rebels win the rematch, they pick up three full points in the Governor's Series. If UNR wins, each side takes 1.5 points toward the competition, which UNLV currently leads 13.5-10.5.

After taking a day off, the winner of Thursday's match will take on the winner of second-seeded Boise State vs. seventh-seeded host Air Force in one of Saturday's semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, No. 4 New Mexico will take on No. 5 Fresno State, with the winner meeting top-seeded San Diego State. The men's final is scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m. PT
