June 5, 2012

ATHENS, GA. – Senior Phil Anderson teamed up with junior Jadon Phillips one last time as the #58 ITA ranked doubles team took to the court at the NCAA Doubles Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Lobos were set up to play against the doubles team from California, Nick Andrews and Christoffer Konigsfeldt.

The two teams battled it out with the Golden Bears winning the first set and New Mexico head butting back to win the second. It came down to the third set on which team would be advancing to the next round.

Anderson and Phillips made a name for themselves making it as difficult as possible for the other team to win, winning 13 games throughout the entire match.  The duo of Andrews and Konigsfeldt ended up winning the match in a close decision of 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

“It was a good effort against a good seeded team,” Head Coach Alan Dils said. “It was a great experience for them, especially for Jadon Phillips as we hope we can get him back there again for next year.”
