Air Force Falls to UNLV at Home

USAFA, Colo. - Outscored 38-4 to close out the game, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped an 86-48 decision to visiting UNLV Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena.

Junior Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) led the Falcons with 16 points and seven rebounds, while classmate Dymond James added 10 points.

Four players scored in double figures for the Lady Rebels, led by Kelli Thompson with 21 points.

UNLV (21-8, 9-4) led 32-26 at the half and extended its advantage to 10 points early in the second period, but the Falcons were able to cut their deficit to four points with a basket from James with 12 minutes remaining. However, the Lady Rebels began to pull away by scoring at the free throw line, while Air Force (5-23, 0-13) was held without a field goal for the remainder of the contest.

The Falcons were outrebounded 44-26 for the game and shot just 30 percent from the field, missing their final 13 field goal attempts of the contest. Meanwhile, the Lady Rebels shot over 55 percent for the game, including 68 percent from the field in the second half.

Air Force closes out its regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 29, when it hosts New Mexico in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
