LAS VEGAS - Reigning Mountain West Women's Basketball tournament champion San Diego State advanced to its second-straight MW Championship game - fifth in the last six years - as the top-seeded Aztecs defeated No. 5 New Mexico, 67-39, in the first MW Championship semifinal game of the day.

The Aztecs (26-5), who also won the MW Women's Championship in 2010, will play either No. 2 Fresno State or No. 3 Wyoming in Saturday's Championship game, which gets underway at 7 p.m. PT on the CBS Sports Network.

Senior guard Chelsea Hopkins, who set a MW Championship record for most assists in the MW Women's Championship with 14 in Thursday's quarterfinal round, recorded a double-double on Friday. The 2013 Mountain West Player of the Year scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. She also had five assists.

Courtney Clements led San Diego State in scoring. The senior guard finished with 15 points, while sophomore forward Erimma Amarikwa had eight points and seven rebounds. Senior center Malia Nahinu scored 10 points and blocked four shots.

San Diego State opened the game on a 12-0 run and New Mexico (17-13) was never able to draw within single digits. The win extended the Aztecs' current undefeated streak to 17 games.

The Lobos shot just 20.4 percent from the floor and didn't have any players reach double figures. Freshman forward Khadijah Shumpert led New Mexico in scoring with eight points.
