MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (UNLVRebels.com) - Down by four midway though the second half, UNLV went on a 16-0 run to take control and claim a 60-51 victory over Ohio in the consolation game of the Subway Classic on Sunday morning in women's college basketball action at Williams Arena. The Lady Rebels, who held Ohio to only five made field goals in the second half, improved to 2-2 on the year while the Bobcats dropped to 1-2.

Sophomore forward Alana Cesarz poured in a new career-high 27 points and added eight rebounds for UNLV, a performance that earned her a spot on the all-tournament team. Also in double figures for UNLV was Kelli Thompson with 11, while Rmanii Haynes added 11 assists. UNLV shot 39.7% (23-of-58) for the game and was 10-of-12 from the charity stripe for 83.3%. The Lady Rebels also held a 48-32 edge on the boards.

"It was nice to get on the right track again, we had good communication and really shared the ball well today," said UNLV head coach Kathy Olivier. "Rmanii's been playing great, and Alana did a good job of crashing the boards and making her shots, while Kelli was a good leader for us on the court today."

Both teams shot over 40% in the first half, which featured four ties and six lead changes, while the largest lead was six by Ohio, 35-29. Thompson scored a layup in the final minute to bring UNLV within 35-31 at halftime.

UNLV opened the half with four straight points to tie the contest at 35-35. There would be three lead changes and three ties over the next five minutes of the game. Ohio took its largest lead of the half, 46-42, on a pair of free throws at the 13:05 mark of the second half.

Those were the final points for the Bobcats for the next eight minutes, as they missed nine straight shots and were forced into four turnovers. Cesarz started the game-winning run for the Lady Rebels with four straight points, while a jumper from Thompson gave them the lead for good, 48-46 at the 9:03 mark. Rejane Verin posted back-to-back baskets to push the lead to six, and Thompson capped the run with a steal and layup for a 58-46 lead with just over five minutes to play. Ohio came no closer then nine the rest of the way, and UNLV would close out for its largest win margin of the season.

Shavon Robinson and Ashley Fowler paced the Bobcats with 10 points each, while Mariah Byard added nine. Ohio shot 30.6% (19-of-62) for the game, was 5-of-24 from three-point range (20.8%) and 8-of-10 at the line for 80%.

UNLV returns to action next weekend when it hosts the Lady Rebel Round-Up on Nov. 24-25. The Lady Rebels open up the four-team tournament by hosting Montana in the first game on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 1 pm, while Bowling Green and Villanova play at 3:30 pm. The consolation and championship games will be played at the same times on Sunday, Nov. 25, with all games behind held in the Cox Pavilion.
