Cowgirl Basketball Returns Home To Face MW Newcomer Nevada

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will look for their first Mountain West win as they host league newcomer Nevada, on Saturday, January 12. The game is set for tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
Wyoming is currently 11-3 overall and 0-1 in MW play after a 70-68 loss against Boise State on Wednesday night. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Chaundra Sewell. She is averaging 14.8 points and a league leading 10.1 rebounds. Kayla Woodward follows with 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds while Kailtyn Mileto is adding 12.6 points. Ashley Sickles is chipping in 11.7 points and 6.0 boards as well.
The Cowgirls are first in the league in scoring offense (71.5 ppg) and assists (15.1 aspg). They are also shooting 356-779 (.457) from the field and 96-236 (.407) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league.
The Wolf Pack come into the game 6-8 overall and 1-0 in the MW. They defeated Air Force in their opener, 67-54. They are led by Chanelle Brennan who is averaging a team high 13.6 points and 5.9 rebounds. Danika Sharp follows with 13.6 points per game while Emily Burns is bringing down a team leading 7.1 rebounds. They return two starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 7-23 overall and 4-12 in the Western Athletic Conference a year ago.
This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 8-4 and has won the last four in a row. The last time the two teams met was March 19, 2010 as the Cowgirls defeated the Wolf Pack 74-53 in Laramie. They are coached by Jane Albright who is in her fifth season with the program.
